Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy explains how Papr Tools handles information when you use this website, browser PDF Tools, the Papr Tools iPhone app, official-source links, Papr Supplies commerce, and support resources. It applies only to Papr Tools-controlled surfaces. Government agencies, Apple, Shopify, hosting providers, payment providers, export destinations, and other third parties apply their own privacy policies to the services they control.

The information involved depends on the surface you choose:

• Website and network data. Hosting and network providers may process IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, timestamps, approximate network location, and diagnostic or security logs.
• Browser PDF Tools. PDFs you select are opened and modified in the current browser session. The implemented workflow does not send PDF contents to a Papr Tools document-processing server. If you expressly choose browser storage, an edited copy is written to IndexedDB in that browser profile.
• Papr Tools for iPhone. The app is designed to manage scans, imported PDFs, OCR text, thumbnails, folders, labels, and related metadata in its app container. Device backups, synchronization, system services, and destinations are controlled by your settings and the services you choose.
• Official-source links. When you open a government link, your browser connects directly to that agency website and sends the information browsers ordinarily send to a visited site.
• Commerce. If Papr Supplies purchasing is enabled, Shopify and enabled payment, fraud-prevention, shipping, and fulfillment providers process the information required for checkout and delivery.
• Support. Information you voluntarily submit through an enabled support channel may include contact details, device and browser details, and the contents of your request.

Information may come directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, from a provider operating on Papr Tools' behalf, or from a commerce provider when purchasing is enabled. Papr Tools does not obtain the forms or application contents you submit directly to a government agency through that agency’s website.

The current website does not provide Papr Tools accounts and does not intentionally combine browser PDF contents with website traffic logs.

Information may be used to:

• deliver, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the website and product surfaces;
• perform actions you request, such as opening, editing, storing, printing, or exporting a PDF in your browser;
• provide support and respond to product, privacy, accessibility, or security questions;
• prevent abuse, fraud, malicious activity, and violations of the Terms of Use;
• operate optional commerce, fulfill orders, and provide transaction support;
• understand aggregate reliability and performance where an enabled provider supplies operational diagnostics; and
• comply with law, protect rights and safety, and establish or defend legal claims.

Papr Tools does not use browser PDF contents for advertising or to make eligibility, credit, employment, insurance, medical, legal, tax, immigration, or benefits decisions.

The current public website does not include a Papr Tools advertising pixel or cross-site behavioral advertising system. Browser PDF Tools can operate without a Papr Tools account. Browser storage for an edited PDF is optional and occurs only after you choose the save action.

Essential platform, security, or commerce providers may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies when necessary to operate their services. If Papr Tools later enables non-essential analytics, advertising, or consent-managed cookies, this policy and any legally required choice mechanism must be updated before or when that change takes effect.

Information may be disclosed to providers that operate hosting, network security, device platforms, support, commerce, payment, shipping, or fulfillment functions, subject to their role and applicable agreements. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate abuse, or support a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the business.

Opening an official-source link, exporting a file, printing, or sharing sends information to the destination you choose. Papr Tools does not control that destination’s subsequent handling.

Based on the current implementation, Papr Tools does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or process it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws. Papr Tools also does not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16.

If these practices change, Papr Tools must update this disclosure and provide legally required notice and opt-out methods before or when the changed practice begins.

Papr Tools seeks to keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose described, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Actual periods vary by surface:

• PDFs in browser memory generally remain available only for the session and may disappear when the page or browser closes.
• PDFs you save to IndexedDB remain in that browser profile until you delete them or browser storage is cleared.
• Exported files are controlled by the destination you select.
• Hosting, support, commerce, and security providers retain operational records under their own retention schedules and applicable agreements.

Browser or device deletion does not necessarily delete a copy you exported to another service or submitted to a third party.

Papr Tools uses product boundaries and technical controls intended to reduce unnecessary exposure, including browser-session PDF processing, optional rather than automatic browser file storage, restrictive website security headers, device-owner authentication features in the iPhone app, and user-directed export.

No system, device, browser, transmission method, or storage method is completely secure. Keep devices and browsers updated, use device authentication, avoid shared profiles for sensitive documents, verify export destinations, and keep independent backups of important files. You can use browser PDF Tools without creating a Papr Tools account, decline optional browser storage, remove browser-stored files, clear site data, decide whether and where to export, and choose whether to open an external link.

Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to Papr Tools, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or an appeal; to opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; or to withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. Papr Tools may need to verify a request and may deny or limit it where permitted by law. Authorized agents may be required to provide proof of authority.

Use the current method published on the Contact page for privacy questions or legally available requests. Do not include private document contents in the initial request.

For transparency, categories that may be processed in the preceding 12 months include identifiers such as IP address and voluntarily provided contact details; internet or electronic network activity such as requested pages and diagnostic logs; device information; approximate network location; commercial information if purchasing is enabled; and support communications. The sources and purposes are described above.

Whether a particular state privacy law applies depends on legal thresholds, business practices, and the user’s location. This section does not represent that Papr Tools is subject to every state privacy law or waive an exemption. Papr Tools does not offer a financial incentive in exchange for personal information through the current website.

Papr Tools is a general-audience document product and is not directed to children under 13. General support should not be used to submit personal information about a child. A parent, guardian, school, agency, or other responsible adult should review document requirements involving minors.

If Papr Tools learns that personal information was collected from a child in a manner requiring parental consent and no valid consent exists, it will take reasonable steps required by applicable law.

Papr Tools is presented from the United States. Providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Data-protection rights and government access rules may differ by jurisdiction. Papr Tools does not claim participation in an international transfer framework unless that participation is expressly stated and verifiable.

Official agencies, Apple, Shopify, payment services, carriers, support providers, and export destinations are independent services. Their terms, privacy notices, accessibility, security, availability, and data practices govern their surfaces. A link does not mean Papr Tools endorses or controls the linked service.

This policy may be updated when product features, providers, legal requirements, or business practices change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate notice when required by law, and consent will be requested when legally required.

Privacy questions and requests should use the current method published on the Contact page. Include only the information needed to understand the request. Do not attach private PDFs or sensitive identifiers to an initial inquiry.
